The word Halitopa is derived from the Native American language specifically
the Chickasaw. Halitopa is an adjective of which has many meanings one in
particular that caught our eye was “elegant”, which truly describes the
magnificant look of the Silken Windhound.
The Chickasaw Nation treaty territory encompasses 7,648 square miles of
south-central Oklahoma and encompasses all or parts of 13 Oklahoma
counties.
